March events at the New Embassy Theatre to be held for one night only include a rescheduled Broadway salute titled “Make ‘Em Laugh!” on Friday, March 26, an all-ages mid-week band night on Tuesday, March 16, and a special musical show with reigning Queen of Queen City Alyssa Matthews on Friday, March 12 at 8 PM.  Doors open at 7:30 PM for environmental fun in a space created for the festivities called “The Lavender Lounge” in the 1931 Art Deco restored movie house at 49 Baltimore Street.  The event is for an adult crowd, with entertainment provided by area performers and former Queen City alternative pageant winners Stephanie Michaels and Mona Lott.  There is a cover charge of $9 at the door.

Bands playing for the all-ages musical night featured are Washington Square Park, the Exotic Aquatic, blankl(y), and The Skrewballz, with doors opening at 6 PM for the 7 PM event on Tuesday, March 16.  The charge is $6 in a drug and alcohol-free zone.  The Embassy is located between Liberty and Mechanic Streets in downtown Cumberland.

Fans of Broadway fare or those who have been made curious about the allure of show music and transfers of such to somewhat magical proportions on the great cinema screens are invited to participate in a celebration of comic songs titled “Make ‘Em Laugh!” on Friday, March 26 at the New Embassy Theatre.  Artistic director Mark Baker, a Broadway veteran performer, will be joined by Olivia Hartman, Daniel Cope, Brittany Stonestreet, Adam Pomeroy, and Martha Letterman in a salute to the Great White Way’s ability to entertain while captivating the potential for a bit of education on the fascination of human nature.  Classic shows featured are “Oklahoma”, “Gypsy”, “The Music Man”, “Guys and Dolls”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”, and “The Pajama Game.”  Hanna Lagno accompanies the cast in an hour long entertainment devised around the frame of a summer stock company of players getting ready for a repertory season of musical theatre, reminiscing a bit about past productions, and preparing for the future.

A benefit for the New Embassy Theatre, the performance ticket of $50 includes hot hors d’oeurves, libations and sweets.  Dress is suit and tie for gentlemen, semi-formal for ladies.  Doors open at 6:45 PM, with showtime at 7:30 PM.  The show is suitable for family fare.
