To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Allegany County Library System, the LaVale Library will hold an Old Fashioned Sock Hop on Saturday, August 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library. Everyone’s invited to come dressed in 1950’s attire and dance to the music provided by DJ Jason Miltenberger. Other activities include a Classic Cars Show, Bookmobile Tour, Children’s Activities, and Face Painting. Commemorative giveaways will be available while supplies last; and hotdogs with drinks will be for 50 cents! Free popcorn and anniversary cake will also be served.
“This will be the library system’s last planned celebration of our 50th Anniversary. If you haven’t had a chance to come out and celebrate with us, don’t miss this chance,” commented Linda Burkey, Coordinator of Community Outreach. “Library staff members have had a fun time sharing with our patrons and meeting a wider cross-section of our communities at our 50th Anniversary celebrations around the county. We hope you had fun too!”
