To celebrate the 50^th Anniversary of the Allegany County Library System, the LaVale Library will hold an Old Fashioned Sock Hop on Saturday, August 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library. Everyone’s invited to come dressed in 1950’s attire and dance to the music provided by DJ Jason Miltenberger. Other activities include a Classic Cars Show, Bookmobile Tour, Children’s Activities, and Face Painting. Commemorative giveaways will be available while supplies last; and hotdogs with drinks will be for 50 cents! Free popcorn and anniversary cake will also be served.

“This will be the library system’s last planned celebration of our 50^th Anniversary. If you haven’t had a chance to come out and celebrate with us, don’t miss this chance,” commented Linda Burkey, Coordinator of Community Outreach.  “Library staff members have had a fun time sharing with our patrons and meeting a wider cross-section of our communities at our 50^th Anniversary celebrations around the county. We hope you had fun too!”
