“Bears in Allegany County!” and “Fall Is in the Air ” are two of the themes that will be explored during Story Times at Allegany County Libraries this fall. The weekly programs for preschool children will be held at each library branch across the county starting the week of September 7 except at the George’s Creek Branch where they will begin the week of September 14.
Story Times for ages 3 to 5 will be held on the following days and times, with activities such as games, finger plays, rhymes, and stories: at the Frostburg Branch on Tuesdays at 11 a.m.; at the George’s Creek Branch on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.; at the LaVale Branch on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.; at the South Cumberland Branch on Thursdays at 10 a.m.; at the Washington Street Branch on Tuesdays (none on September 21) at 10 a.m. and at the Westernport Branch on Tuesdays at 6:30p.m. In order to accommodate toddlers, children ages 2-5 are welcome at South Cumberland Story Times on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and George’s Creek Story Times on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
Toddler Times designed to stimulate and entertain children 18 to 36 months attending with a parent or adult caregiver are also held across the county. Note the Frostburg Branch invites children 6 months to 36 months to their program. Toddler Times are held at the Frostburg Branch on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. (none on October 27); George’s Creek Branch on Tuesdays at 11 a.m.; the LaVale Branch on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m.; the Washington Street Branch on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. (none on September 21) and the Westernport Branch on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. (starting September 2).
A Babies & Books program is also available at the LaVale Branch for children ages 0 to 18 months attending with a parent or adult caregiver each Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Activities may include nursery rhymes, games, stories, and other experiences designed to stimulate and entertain this age child.
