Registrations are now being accepted for the 2010 Symphony Saturday's program. Symphony Saturdays is a wonderful hands-on opportunity for elementary school-aged children to work with professional musicians from the Maryland Symphony Orchestra in order to learn more about the instruments of classical music. No previous experience is required and instruments will be available for all children to use during the workshop sessions. Held during the first four Saturday mornings of October, each of the four instrument families (percussion, brass, woodwinds and strings) will have two session options: Session "A" from 9:30a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and Session "B" from 11 a.m. to noon. All Symphony Saturdays sessions will be held in the Allegany Arts Council's Community Room at 9 N. Centre Street in Downtown Cumberland.

On a first-come, first-served basis, your child may pre-register for as few as one session or as many as four (one session with each of the instrument families). Parents are also encouraged to participate and share the learning experience (and the fun!) with their children. Thanks to The Community Trust Foundation (Halmos Arts Fund and Naylor Family Trust), participation in the 2010 Symphony Saturday's program is FREE, although pre-registration is required.
