The Family Crisis Resource Center, Inc. (FCRC) opened a new outreach office in Frostburg, MD.

The Resource Center helps women and men who have been a victim of sexual assault, rape, intimate partner abuse, domestic violence, and/or child abuse. The FCRC will provide a safe house for those who are faced with these issues.

The Frostburg office also provides advocacy services as well as supportive and crisis counseling services to victims. FCRC will also provide referrals to other agencies if necessary.

The Cumberland office will continue to provide 24-hour emergency shelter. If someone needs to flee an abusive situation, they can go to the shelter in Cumberland.

Lorrie Dunn, FCRC Outreach Coordinator stated, “Having an outreach office in Frostburg will help reach those in surrounding communities like Grantsville, Mt Savage, and Georges Creek area, for example. Plus, we hope to extend our services to Frostburg State University as an off-campus resource to students who may be concerned about confidentiality. “

Sara-Beth James, Executive Director of the Cumberland office of FCRC says the Frostburg Police and City Council have been a great help to the organization. “Frostburg City has been very supportive. We have a great partnership with the city council and police.”
