The Allegany County Young Democrats recently met to finalize endorsements for federal, state, and local offices for the September 14, Primary Election, and the November 2, General Election. Endorsed candidates are: U.S. Senate -- Barbara Mikulski, Governor -- Martin O'Malley, House of Delegates (1A) -- James "Smokey" Stanton, House of Delegates (1C) -- Ronald Lohr, Allegany County Commissioner -- Bill DuVall and Tom Striplin, Allegany County Board of Education -- Michael Llewellyn and Sara-Beth James, Cumberland City Council -- David Kauffman and Nicolas Scarpelli, Cumberland Mayor -- Brian Grim, and Allegany County Democratic Central Committee -- Meggin Bittner, Max Green, Kate Livengood, Kate Metzger, Keith Mikula, Craig Miller, Jennifer Morder, Kelly Robertson, Robin Summerfield, Nick Taylor, Sam White, Christopher Wills and Jaclyn Wolf.
The Young Democrats will be hosting an Election Night Party, open to the public, at no cost, on September 14, from 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m at the Downtown Cumberland Holiday Inn. The public is invited to attend. Dozens of candidates have already been invited to attend and local media is also encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be available and election returns will be broadcast and posted at the event, as they are available.
