January, February, and March are lean months for food collection at the Frostburg Food Pantry. Pantry Partners, a project of the Frostburg Rotary Club, will be hosting “Phone a Friend for Food Week” January 22-29. Their goal is to raise 2,012 pounds of food in celebration of the New Year by having 20 volunteers ask their friends to donate 12 food items. Callers will assemble at Armstrong Insurance on Sunday, January 22 at 6:45 p.m. to phone ten friends, asking each to donate a dozen of one specific item to the Frostburg Food Pantry. The friends will be asked to place their food, along with a slip of paper listing their name and their caller’s name, in the drop box located on the rear porch of the food pantry before Sunday, January 29. The Pantry is located at 44 West Main St. in the Jones Center of the Frostburg United Methodist Church, across from the post office. Pantry Director Bill Rafferty will record the progress of the challenge daily. Would you like to get involved?
