FROSTBURG – The Frostburg Board of Elections released the schedule for the city's upcoming election at this month's meeting of the Frostburg City Council. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 is election day in Frostburg, with the four Council members and Mayor up for re-election. The coming months will see a number of election-related developments, as the city's Board of Elections gears up for the every-other-year balloting. Any city resident registered to vote in federal, state or county elections is automatically eligible to vote in the city election. The deadline to register to vote in the city election is Monday, May 7. The filing deadline for candidates for the Council seats or Mayor's office is Tuesday, May 8. The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot is Tuesday, May 29. Absentee ballots must be received by Friday, June 1. The election season will kick off in March when notices about the election are placed in city utility bills. In April, a notice of election schedule will be issued to area media, followed by a legal advertisement in the Times-News. On Saturday, April 14, a special voter registration drive will be held at City Hall from noon to 2 p.m. Following the election, the new Mayor and Council will take their oath of office on Monday, July 2, 2012. The Frostburg Board of Elections consists of Woody Getz, chair, Catherine Davis and David Linn.
