Savage River Watershed Association members and interested persons are invited to attend the Tuesday, January 24th meeting of the Youghiogheny River Watershed Association (YRWA) in Garrett College’s CAOS building off Laker Drive at 7 PM. Guest speakers Dan Brower and Tony Prochaska of MD Department of Natural Resources will discuss the MD Stream Waders program. Stream Waders uses volunteers to monitor and assess waterway health, with the results put into the MD Biological Stream Survey (MBSS) data base.  According to Smokey Stanton, YRWA President, Stream Waders is a potential structure to be used in conducting water quality baseline and continued monitoring of streams in Garrett County. The presentation will include a map developed by DNR of sites they believe should be monitored due to Marcellus shale gas drilling.
