Smith_Hunter_aiHunter Smith, former athletic trainer for the Baltimore and Indianapolis Colts and the 2010 Frostburg State University Lillian Wellner distinguished scholar, will present two lectures at Frostburg State University on Tuesday, April 27, and Wednesday, April 28.  Both programs are free and open to the public.

The Tuesday program will be “Athletic Training in Professional Football,” presented from 7 to 9 PM in the Leake Room of the Cordts Physical Education Center.  The Wednesday program, presented from 9 to 11 AM, also in the Leake Room, will be “Athletic Training; Past, Present, and Future.”

Smith has more than 30 years experience as an athletic trainer.  He has worked for both Colts teams and colleges and universities such as Salisbury University and William and Mary.  Smith is currently the head athletic trainer for the New York Sentinels of the United Football League.

The Wellner Scholar program was created from an endowment from the FSU Foundation Inc. to allow the Department of Health and Physical Education to host a series of lectures by nationally acclaimed scholars.  It was named for the late Lillian Wellner, a former Frostburg State registrar and physical education instructor.
