The annual Storybook Holiday Mile (formerly the Jingle Run) is back as a key part of the town's eighth annual Storybook Holiday festivities. As in past years, runners and walkers will be the unofficial first float of the Storybook Holiday Parade.
Race-day registration for the 1-mile run/walk begins at 9:30 a.m. at the start line, located at Main Street and Armstrong Avenue. Entry is only $5, including on event day.
Participants should arrive early enough to park near the finish line, located on Main Street near Grant Street, and walk one mile uphill to the start or be prepared to circle back to your vehicle after crossing the finish line.
Last year's overall winner was Allegany High School cross country state champion Ian P. MacFawn with a time of 4 minutes, 45.9 seconds. Sharon Ellsworth, of Cumberland, earned the women's title in 6:29.4. Questions? Call Stephanie Spradlin at 301-264-3147 or email
