A male feline neuter clinic sponsored by the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation is being held Saturday, October 15. The Foundation has sponsored the semi-annual event for the past several years.

“We have been overwhelmed by the success of our neuter clinics,” commented foundation president, Tina Rafferty.  “Our goal is two-fold – we have too many male cats roaming loose and overpopulation is a serious problem which seems to be escalating.  By sponsoring clinics such as this, we hope to help control the overpopulation.  We also hope to increase awareness that feline sterilization is an action all responsible cat owners should take.”

Pre-registration is required for the clinic and may be done by calling a foundation volunteer at 301-697-1256 on Tuesday, October 11 between 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Space is limited to male cats and walk-ups will not be taken.  Only male cats, six months or older, in healthy physical condition are eligible.  Cats should receive no food or water beginning Friday night at 10:00 pm.  The foundation requires that the pet owner have each cat in an individual carrier.  The neuter fee is $20.00 per cat, and a rabies shot is provided.

The Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation is a (501(c)(3) non-profit organization with an all-volunteer board of directors. For more information on the Foundation, visit www.alleganycountyshelter.com.
