Neighborhood Friends Care (NFC) ambition goes further than just helping those with limited resources and/ or abilities within the Frostburg area. Their members provide the Frostburg community with the opportunity to give and receive assistance.

I met with several members from this group. The members were excited to share successes. Recently they have repaired railings, built exterior steps on an outside porch, power washed a handicapped access ramp, raked and cleaned leaves from gutters, and repaired a water damaged interior wall.  At the moment they are planning to shovel snow for seniors during the month of December. The group is now raising money to purchase shovels and salt as well as seeking members to serve.  What makes these projects truly special is the fact all monies come from private funds.  Without donations and volunteers, these projects would not exist. It is heartwarming to see the local community pool resources in the spirit of direct service.

Event coordinator Daniel Witter explains, “True Community is one in which people help each other. By finding individuals who could use a helping hand, and matching that need with volunteers who would like to assist, we strengthen the spirit of our community.”

Neighborhood Friends Care (NFC) is happily accepting tax deductible donations and they can be mailed to the Foundation for Frostburg / NFC P.O. Box 765 Frostburg MD, 21532.   Further information is available by calling 240-727-0332 or by emailing Daniel Witter at FoundationforFrostburg@gmail.com
