On Monday September 21st the Allegany College of Maryland’s student Peace Studies Club warmly invites you to observe the International Day of Peace.  In 1981 the United Nations declared by resolution that the 21st of September would be the International Day of Peace.

The UN resolution: "Declares that the International Day of Peace shall henceforth be observed as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, an invitation to all nations and people to honor a cessation of hostilities for the duration of the Day...”  The hope is that for this ONE DAY we could have peace on earth.

The students of the Peace Studies Club will be observing this day by holding a moment of silence by the college fountains at Noon and a nighttime candle light walk at the college Labyrinth starting at dark (7:30 - 8 PM).

Allegany College of Maryland’s labyrinth is located behind the Continuing Education Building and to the right of the baseball field.

The club asks that if you cannot make it to the labyrinth on Monday night, that you take time during the week to contemplate on World Peace and what role you would be willing to play toward accomplishing it.  The club states that “Peace can only begin on the inside.”  May Peace prevail on earth.

Everyone should come out and participate, the labyrinth is something to see at night, especially if its clear.
